What is a referendum?
Referendums go by many different names. Citizen-initiated ballot measures, initiated state statutes, initiated constitutional amendments, and even veto referendums. Laws vary drastically by state on the number of signatures required. Some are 10% of the total vote for the governor, some are 10% of all registered voters, but those are only a few examples.
